Spam Texters & what @talk2GLOBE did about it

First, I waited to see if Globe will do something about text spammers/text ads before blogging about it. I wrote before that since I got my new number two years ago, I've been getting spam texts/services/promo etc. Sometimes I received it in the wee hours of the night/morning.

Finally, I decided to report it to Globe. I commend Globe for doing something about it. I'm pleased with how their social media agents picked up where we left off.

After reporting, I still got spam texts but not as much anymore. I read before that people who are subscribed to post paid plans like me also experience the same thing.

 And yesterday, I saw this on the news:

[Project FeeTrail May 2014]: Sandals, Season, and Sayings

Sandals
We've been experiencing really hot summer that reached 39 degrees. T'was the season for skin breakouts, dehydration, and anticipation of electric bill shock. An air-conditioning unit is no longer a luxury to be installed inside the house. It is a lot of effort to go out especially during lunch hour until 3pm. I've even temporarily ditched closed shoes and switched to sandals when I don't normally do that when travelling to the city. And I have started dressing down and wearing too-casual clothes for work because of the heat.

I love lists, tips, and life hacks on the internet. As I said in a previous post, I'm sort of dealing with one of the trade offs for my vision board, and that includes fighting the urge to spend on something. I'm trying to cut back on becoming an emotional shopper by resisting and limiting my exposure to things that might get in the way of what I am saving up for. 

Today, I found this on pinterest  just as I was distracting my self from looking through make up posts, lusting after lipsticks and reading blog reviews about what summer lippies to get. This is perfect for Cheap Tips fans, like myself:

Trade Offs

I started this year about vision boards, and yes it is as real as you can imagine.

But there are certain trade offs.

To be honest, I've checked four already and it hasn't even been half a year yet. I am grateful. But as I have said, there are certain trade offs.

So my reason for the lack of posts? I'm currently in those trade offs.

Review: Krazy Garlik (Resorts World vs. Alabang Town Center)

I've seen Krazy Garlik Restaurant in Alabang Town Center but never had the curiosity to try it out until we decided to have lunch at their Resort's World branch on Aprille's birthday right before our flight to Japan.

I asked the nice lady who seated us why it was called Krazy Garlik. She said almost all of the dishes are Garlic-based. They even put it on some drinks and it tasted good, you wouldn't even think it's garlic!

It was nice that we have the place to ourselves as we happen to be there right when they opened. And because they have free, fast, wifi, my family were all on their gadgets.

I found my Daruma Doll!

I wrote before how much I want to have a Daruma doll. When I went to Japan last month, I found one at a flea market. But it was too big for me, plus it costs 1500 yen.

Thank goodness for instagram that when I tweeted it, Aprille's friend Brinks, told me she got hers at Kyoto. And its a good thing we're going to Kyoto the very next day!

I finally found my cute little gold Daruma doll.

The nice Japanese lady showed me how the the Daruma doll gets up when knocked down and how I should make a wish before painting the eye of the Daruma doll.

I still have to think what to wish for, because I've been so blessed, and I feel like wishing more might be too much already.

I think I'm going to just leave it on the display for now.

[Project FeeTrail April 2014]: Standing in Sablay

I did think about what to put for my project FeeTrail for April 2014, because of two things:

1) I've been to Japan (my very first time ever!) and witnessed the Sakura Season.
2) I attended my Graduation for my MS Degree.

Then I chose this photo of me wearing the UP Sablay for my graduation for my Project FeeTrail.

I can always go back to Japan for the Sakura season, but you cannot really go back to the moment where you march to the stage in front of the whole University to received your degree.

The Grad School Diaries: Episode 26 - April 26

I already graduated last October 31, 2013 and got cleared from the University right before I turned 30 last year. So this graduation march is really just a formality. But, since our office will be covering University Events, might as well attend all the University graduation events such as Chancellor's Night, Testimonial and Recognition Day, Hooding and Recognition Ceremony (for Masters and PhD candidates only) and finally the University Graduation last April 26.

This blog was born out of the desire to get my writing groove back on when I was still studying in graduate school. A photo of me graduating must be in order! (Photo by Kuya Karl) 

One of my relatives, Tita Eves, couldn't make it to my graduation so she watched the live streaming at home, waited for me to be called on stage and took a photo of me getting my certificate on stage. (Honestly, I secretly want to have a photo of me via live streaming, so imagine my delight when someone actually took it for me! Kire lang, I know.)  Thank you Tita Eves for the photo. 

It rained during our graduation march, but I enjoyed it even with all the water splatter. Because, a little rain don't hurt, at least I am finally, formally, receiving my degree! After the march, we were blessed to have a beautiful sunset graduation and fabulous fireworks. I even enjoyed getting the last seat at the back because I get to be relaxed, walk around a little, chat with others, and even have a little picnic of my own. Here is my photo by Paolo Aquino, who kept trying to take candid shots of me, snacking at the back during the announcement of graduates. 

But the cutest surprise of all is I came home to find not one, but two tarpaulin from my High School friends, congratulating me on my graduation. It was so cute, that my mother insisted to have a photo op at the gate of our house when we arrived. (Not the best photo of me guys, but thank you!)

The next day, I wore the exact same dress that I wore during graduation and brought my certificate of completion of my Masteral Degree, just like what I promised Tatay, 39 days after he passed away. 

Now after every milestone, we get asked (or probably we ask ourselves) so what now? Inspired by my friend, Josh, this is now my life verse:
