UPLB's 93rd Loyalty Day

Loyalty Day is like the alumni homecoming of UPLB. When I was seven years old, I look forward to UPLB's Loyalty day because it's like a UPLB-wide festivitiy complete with floats, sky divers, family picnics, balloons and street dance/show.

Last year it fell on a Sunday and I was able to enjoy a family picnic together with my good friends, the awesome and fabulous Jarumayan sisters who all came home to elbi all the way from Makati just for the loyalty day.

And last year was the first time after more than 10 years since I last watched the parade. This year, I was not expecting that I would be "joining" the parade and I'm not even in my "home court".
Assembly

Found my friend Franco covering for UPLB FI

Friendly CEAT Peeps

Look at the long line

Our Bosses getting ready with dressed balloons

I actually don't know what they're doing

Lines are arranged by color and by department

This is where each department/college will present

On our way to present our college cheer
We are CEAT
We are here to fight,
Fight, for nature,
to make it green and bright!

(I learned the words 5 minutes before we went live and I hope the cameras didn't catch me laughing)
Then our bosses released the balloons and some Chinese lanterns

Up, up and away they go

While the guests and the big bosses looked on
Everything is going well and we're excited to go back to our college (naks! "our" na talaga) for the Centennial Luncheon when...

One of our Chinese Lanterns got caught up in a tree!
Anyway, we didn't burn the tree naman. I think  it died a natural death. I had a good time at the parade because it wasn't that hot though I was wearing a college shirt over my blouse.

Too bad I didn't get to see my friend Aya, we could have shared a 5 minute laugh-fest, before we hit the parade. We had to go first before her team.

Happy 93rd Loyalty day, UPLB!

Fishtail braids

Saturday Morning at the Boutique.
My sister Apy: "Ate you know what fishtail braid is?"
Me: "No."
Apy: "Here, I'll show you...I've seen it on tumblr"

Then she whipped my hair up and created a "fishtail braid".

Here are the fishtail braids, also known as Herringbone or Fishbone, as I've seen on tumblr.

1. View from the top:

5.) Last but definitely not the least, my sister Aprille's impromptu fishtail braid!

It's wide and thin at the same time!

I googled how to make one. You can try it out by clicking here.

Museo Pambata

When I found out that my next project location would be in Museo Pambata for a pre-nup photo shoot, I immediately grabbed the opportunity even though it means getting up early and going home late on a Sunday.

I've never been to Museo Pambata, not even on a field trip. When I first found out that the couple that we'll be shooting wanted to have their pre nup pictorial taken at the museo pambata musuem, I wondered what the place will look like.

But more to that pre-nup in the coming days...

Anyway, since it's something new, so I asked my sister to take snap shots of the place as well.

Digital Perm: Solution to join the waves when you couldn't beat 'em

I used to have super straight hair when I was younger until I decided to curl it when I was in 6th grade, and after that, it  never went back.

So since I was seventeen, I've been getting hair treatments from hair relax, straight, then finally hair rebond. I've always been really careful when it comes to my hair because it takes forever to grow back so every haircut is very well thought of.

They said once you get your hair rebonded, you can not downgrade (meaning relax or straight). So half of my hair has already been growing it's natural waves that it's becoming impossible for me not to wear my hair up in a pony tail.

So last month, I decided, I'll screw the waves and have everything curled so that it'll look united. Since it's my first time to get digital perm, I took photos of the process.

This is what the salon looks like. It's  a good thing that Tony and Jackey has a near branch and they have an ongoing promo. I paid Php4000.00 for the LOreal perm + Keratin Treatment+ haircut.

Jitters of a Professional Raketista

I just feel like I have to post something before October starts...which is like... in an hour.

I've been having these jitters... because not only this month is the official month for hell week in Grad School but it's also a start for my new life and opportunities that my calendar's been messed because I've been... just going for "it".

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining. I want to document this jitters that I am feeling because come Monday, it'll be a whole new set of experiences for me, so different from where I came from.

Starting from scratch has never been easy, but I've learned to be pretty good at charging it to experience. The whole feeling is like Pink's Glitter in the Air...
"The breath before the kiss; the fear before the flames..."
I remember talking to my friend over coffee a few weeks ago about where the hell did my 2011 go? I mean, the year have not ended yet, I still have 3 months to go before the end of the year and yet I don't remember getting something big, unlike the big leap that I did last year.
" What you did? It's called cleansing..."
I think I did. I think I really did. And before I know it, my schedules been packed with shoots, meet ups, reunions, interviews, new career and a much awaited vacation.

Thank you Universe and Thank you Lord, thank you for all these blessings and for never forsaking me. :)

Hash Brown Burger from Jollibee

After reading my favorite bloggers, Jenni Epperson and Saab Magalona's blog, I was enticed to try the new Jollibee Hash Brown Burger.

So last weekend, I tried the Hash Brown Burger courtesy of @ellipra. :)

I was really curious about what does it tastes like
It looks like a regular burger. The Hash Browns are baked by the way.
What it looks like, pre-war.
Taking a shot in between bites.

  • Not bad! I think I  like this more than KFC's Double down burger.
  • Price: Php 60.00 - ala carte, Php 80.00 - value meal.
  • Taste: 3 out of 5 for me, because I love potatoes.

Have you tried Jollibee's new Hash Brown Burger?

NSO Customer Service

I was in the world of Customer Service for six years and from there I learned that when a customer is satisfied with a certain service, she/he will tell one friend. However, if  a customer is dissatisfied with a service, she/he will tell ten thousand of her/his friends. ( maybe tweet and blog about it. Ehem.)

So last week, I was trying to get an NSO's birth certificate for my ate and I am glad they have chat support. I was challenged (read: too tamad) to navigate the web so I asked the Chat Assist Customer Service Representative to go through the procedure with me. ( I got my NSO'd birth certificate years ago, I'd forgotten the process.)

Anyway the CSR, Naiome ( yeah, weird spelling) was very accommodating and answered my challenging questions and she did not give me those robotic, automated response ( trust me, I know!). After I paid online they said that since it's a Friday request, they will process it the next day and allow it two-three business days for delivery.

I'm happy with the service that I took time to answer the survey:

Yes, I took time to really answer the survey.
Naiome informed me that if it's your first time to get a birth certificate from NSO and you don't know if they have a copy, they will:

  • Give you a NSO'd copy if it's available; or
  • Give you a certificate saying that you are NOT registered.
So either way, you will get a document stating you are registered or not. The document costs Php 330.00 (all in, shipping and convenience included.)

And Tuesday Morning, the NSO'd document came, just as promised and right on time. :)

New Series: New Girl

I can't wait for this one! I'm glad ETC is airing this really soon!

According to Fox.com

JESS DAY (Zooey Deschanel, "(500) Days of Summer") is an offbeat and adorable girl in her late 20s who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys. Goofy, positive, vulnerable and honest to a fault, Jess has faith in people, even when she shouldn't. Although she's dorky and awkward, she's comfortable in her own skin. More prone to friendships with women, she's not used to hanging with the boys - especially at home.
