I used to have super straight hair when I was younger until I decided to curl it when I was in 6th grade, and after that, it never went back.
So since I was seventeen, I've been getting hair treatments from hair relax, straight, then finally hair rebond. I've always been really careful when it comes to my hair because it takes forever to grow back so every haircut is very well thought of.
They said once you get your hair rebonded, you can not downgrade (meaning relax or straight). So half of my hair has already been growing it's natural waves that it's becoming impossible for me not to wear my hair up in a pony tail.
So last month, I decided, I'll screw the waves and have everything curled so that it'll look united. Since it's my first time to get digital perm, I took photos of the process.
In case you're wondering for other details, here are some useful tips:
- Haircut - P500.00
- Digi Perm curlers have 3 curl sizes: Small, Medium and Large (for big curls). I opted to go for the Medium sized one since the curl lasts longer, the Large one only lasts up to 3 to 4 months (from the Salon insider).
- All staff are trained to UPSELL. They show you a brochure then they really tell you that a treatment is a must blah, blah, blah... so only get the treatment that your hair needs.
- They will not recommend a different product other than the ones they sell. The spiel is: They cannot guarantee since it's not their product. Well trained staff for the business spiel, Korean peeps!
- All hairstylists are Koreans. Though some of them can understand a bit of English and Tagalog (and charades, probably) it is best to let them know what you think.
- Make sure you know what you want to do with your hair. In my case, I really enunciated the term: "Side swept bangs" with "soft layers".
- Entire treatment takes + Perming takes 3 to 4 hours.
- Your hair can't get wet during the next two days.
- Ask them to teach you how to take care/ maintain the curls.
- You can dye your hair two weeks later ( which makes me think... )
I love going to the mall and at the salon during weekdays.
Can you imagine the "que horror" look on my face when they removed the curls? I thought I'd be getting those Sto.Nino curls but no... it's alarming at first.
This is what it looked like when the curlers are gone. The stylist and the assistants worked their magic through my hair so it pretty much looked like those in the ad covers. However, I was too dyahe to have my photo taken with matching super smile.
Of course it looks really pretty because I've just stepped out of the salon, but let's see in a few days... I didn't take photos of the finished product because I rushed to my next appointment (read: chika fest with my friend who went straight to see me and met me at the mall the minute she arrived at the airport).
So nine days later after I got my hair digitally permed, here's what it looks like:
| My sister took this photo at 8 pm. This is what it looks like after surviving the entire day (bath at 6am, stressful morning class, afternoon writing session, a little nap time and back to blogging) |
I had forgotten that I have two-toned hair! So that's what it looks like, no salon-pretensions or whatever. I just used mousse on my hair in the morning and hardly combed it. I can say I am pretty much satisfied because it's so low maintainance.
I'm thinking about getting my hair DIY-colored (getting so obsessed with messing my hair). I think this phase is the best time to just go ahead and do with what I please with my hair because I have no one to impress and no beau to please, so this is the best time to just go for it!
So expect that in the coming days, I will be blogging about hair products that I've been trying to keep my 'do.
What hair color do you recommended for warm-toned skin?

na-shokot naman ako sa 'monster' curler mo! digital robot pala talaga. hehe :)
Haha true! Steady head ako for 10 minutes. In fairness, at least hindi 1 hour. Bawal mag CR habang naka-medusa!
Goldilocks ang peg bakla! Love it! :))
hi i also got my digi perm done in t&j and they also told me they highly recommend their products but i found it costly, as expensive as the treatment itself, what products do you use or do you recommend as a substitute :)
