I
wrote about Los Baños Traffic before
that got plagiarized during one of the class in grad school but that's a different story.
I'm starting to think that maybe common sense, initiative and pro activeness to come up with a system to deal with traffic is starting to be too much to ask.
If you know UPLB and have been to National Arts Center or Boy Scouts of the Philippines in Jamboree, you will know that the road coming from Jamboree and going down to UPLB is rarely, if never, a scene for really heavy traffic. Until last Sunday.
Here's the scene from last Sunday:
| They allowed the empty jeepneys park on the actual main road. |
Quick story: Jamboree is the venue for boy Scout's camping and that sunday was the last day of camping so these vehicles were there to pick the scouts up and take them home.
Meaning: It was not just some random coincidence, it was scheduled and anticipated.
| And on the grass. |
| If that's not bad enough, they allowed double parking as well. |
| With only one passage way |
| See how long it is? The only ones who can pass through are those riding the motorcycle. |
| It's not traffic, it's parking line! |
| Incoming surprised and clueless vehicles started to pile up |
The one and only guard who's in charge at the intersection location.
I guess no one thought of coming up with a system that they can actually make the traffic flow by the give-way system.
Someone could've worked with this guard, like a buddy system, and they can talk to each other, coordinate via two-way radio and guide vehicles in a give-way system.
| I don't understand this. |
| And this finally caused state of panic and demand. |
| See all the vehicles? |
You see, I work for my sister and she's a
wedding florist. In the area/spot above, we all met up with the wedding caterer and the sound system provider of the exact same wedding we are catering for. We were all stranded on that same spot when we need to go up at National Arts Center to set up St. Marc's Chapel. The caterers will have to set up and design the reception same with the lights and sounds.
We tried to explain to the guard, but to no avail.
Finally, after more than 30 minutes, a guard who is in authority finally came to his senses to let us, the wedding suppliers, pass after almost an hour of explaining that we just cannot be late in setting up the wedding.
And thank God, we were able to reach the St. Marc's chapel and finish the set up just in time for the wedding.
Actually, some guests were starting to arrive while we're still doing some last minute decorations.
Why, oh why can't we have an organized system?
