This was my first art exhibit in UPLB. It was called ART Mussaenda and paintings of Mussaenda flowers were sold in this gallery. I don't even remember the location of this gallery, or where it was held.
Here I am in my school uniform. I think this is my photo with exhibit organizers. And I don't really like to smile at the camera back then and I already have the frighteningly bipolar artist mood at such a young age.
I believe I was in first grade when this taken. I remember being taken to a place with just about six other supposedly artist children and we were inside a room, given some art materials and were asked to make our own interpretation of a live plant/flower in the middle called: The Mussaenda.
And on the other side of the gallery were the painting of the mussaenda done in oil and painted on a handmade paper. I remember my Mom has one in pink handmade paper but I was not able to look for it and see what it looked like more than 20 years later.
Next, Dad took this photo and insisted that I stand in front of the Philippine Eagle poster, because he said it's the biggest bird in the Philippines and can only be found in Davao, where one of his best friends, former UPLB soccer coach, Tito Erwin, migrated.
Ah memory lane. I love looking at old photographs. This is totally out of topic, but look at the old school electric fan!
I think my sister and I got our fascination and perhaps talent for photography from our late dad. We never really had the proper orientation of the rule of thirds, but it's really just as simple as common sense that you have to fit people inside the square frame, don't cut their heads off, and make sure there's an equal amount of space on all sides.
I just finished burning a CD with Kuya Stew's wedding photos for my Uncle to take back to UK. Like my dad, he is also fond of photography and cameras and until now, he and my Aunt Edith takes quick trips to the town to have the photos from their digital camera's memory cards and have it developed, printed and kept in the family album.
I'm thinking maybe I should start having these photos in my camera printed out, but I'm afraid it's going to cost much because I take too many crazy pictures that it's hard to filter which ones to keep and which ones to delete. And my friends know that not only I almost always have a digital camera with me, I keep all crazy photos for future blackmail.
The sad news about today's digital age is majority of the people don't care much about having hard copies of photos anymore because their primary concern is the convenience of uploading it on facebook or other social networking sites.
And though I don't upload much photos in facebook for a few years now, sadly, I am still one of them.
