Experience Self-Dating

My cousin Chimayne gave me strict instructions to take her mum (together with my mom, aunt and uncle) to Ace Water Spa (where we went to) because they'll enjoy it. So yesterday, the day before the Buy One Take One promo ends, I accompanied them to the city to have their urban R&R. Translation: My Time Off on the sides as well!

So while waiting for them to finish ( Ace Water Spa's Hyrdrotherapy is for 4 hours) I decided to kill time at Edsa Shangri-La Mall and watch... *drum roll please*

The movie already started by the time that I got my ticket. This is the second movie that I watched alone (Yes, Alone. Like I was laughing out loud alone in the cinema, while tweeting on the sides). The first movie that I watched alone is "The Killers" starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl and that was in Walter Mart Makati, where it was a few minutes away from my apartment in Makati.

Have you tried watching a movie alone?

I was appalled at the first thought of it. Because I kind of felt a little embarrassed that I would be laughing in the cinema alone while the rest of the audience have someone to laugh with. I told myself before that when I am heartbroken, I will watch a horror movie alone in the cinema to numb the pain (chos!) but I never really got around to doing it.

So for my first experience, I made sure to get the earliest schedule just in case I ran into somebody I know but this time I got the 3:50pm screening time in Shang Cineplex and ended up, yes, making a scene by walking inside the movie theater saying my excuse me's while I walk over to my assigned seat.

It wasn't so bad. I'm glad I was able to do it alone, because I've been itching for a time off from... sort of everything because I know how busy I'll be this semester in school ( oh, plus the fact that, no matter where I go and even though I do not leave the house, I still get caught up in someone and someone else's e-baggage without me having to lift an effin' finger for it).

So I'm not going to spoil the movie for you guys, but I really love the characters.

Allan.
This guy made me laugh so much. His best line for me is " I wish  monkeys could skype..."

Phil.
I find him hot... the way he handle crisis is sexy!

Stu.
I like the way he panics haha! He kind of reminds me of one of my guy friends in HS, but I won't drop his name just in case he decides to read my blog because he knows I "love" him haha!

Mr. Chow.
This guy is funny too. My favorite line from him would be: Oh you're having a bad day? Did you die?

Doug.
Not much of an appealing character because he was just good looking all throughout the film.
Some Hang Over 2 Movie Trivia from IMDB website:

  • Mel Gibson was supposed to play the tattoo artist, but the idea was later dropped following protests from the cast and crew. He was replaced by Liam Neeson. Director Todd Phillips later wanted to reshoot Neeson's scene, but Neeson was unavailable to return, as he was filming Clash of the Titans 2 (2012). The scene was subsequently reshot with Nick Cassavetes in the role.
  • 'Ed Helms' was severely sick from food poisoning during the scene where Stu is dancing in the street with no shirt on. After each take Helms would curl into a fetal position until it was time to film again.
  • In the scene where Stu discovers the tattoo on his face, Bradley Cooper genuinely broke into laughter and the director Todd Phillips decided to keep that take in the film.
  • Mike Tyson is said to have taken singing lessons for his role as the singer for Stu's wedding, performing an off-key rendition of "One Night in Bangkok".
  • Former president Bill Clinton visited the set while on location in Thailand. Some news sources erroneously stated that Clinton had filmed a cameo, no such cameo appears in the final film. Bradley Cooper stated that during a dinner the former president jokingly asked to be in the second A-Team Movie.

Then after the movie, I still have a couple more hours to go so I roamed around the empty mall.

One wing of Edsa Shang
And I ended up having my favorite frozen yogurt fix: The White Hat Italian Frozen Yogurt. ( Now I'm missing you again Camille! I remember our White Hat date in Alabang Town Center)

I was all geared up reading with my fully charged iPod when the White Hat staff came over and gave me a free Travel magazine:

Side Trip Travel Magazine
It featured Legazpi City, where my friend and I went to last April-May, and ended up staying in Camarines Sur til our last day because we don't know where to roam around in Legazpi City.

So I gave this magazine to my friend because she loves the place and will probably be back again for her Dissertation's data gathering.

I am one of those people who needs a time off/ alone time/ Me time, whatever you may want to call it, from time to time because I need to self-recharge. Not that I am really tired from physical activities but there are just things and people that drains you or suck the positivity out of you.

I know some people who are quite embarrassed to be seen eating alone at a restaurant but I've pretty much dined alone (not once, not in a fastfood but a real restaurant), had coffee alone at Starbucks in Glorietta 4 and once I have had a beer (just one) and drank alone in a bar not minding the people around. The fear of humiliation or awkwardness is all in the mind. Once you've faced your fear of being "alone" in public, you will realize that, people don't really care.

It's all in the mind, trust me.

Have you started facing your minor fears and begin looking straight at them in the eye?
