Chillet's Attempt at Frozen Yogurt

Chillet, a dessert and cafe, located in elbi square offers Frozen Yogurt as one of their dessert treats. We tried it one day during our meeting and we ordered the one with almond flakes and oreos with chocolate drops.

Low res photo because this was taken using my camera phone

Tips:

  • Service is sloooooow.
  • They say on the menu that it's OREO but it's not. It's a local brand cookie.
  • Almond Flakes are Almond Flake Cereals.
  • Staff: Thumbs up for courteousness.

Recommendations:

  • If you say "Oreo" on the menu, make sure it is really Oreo. Oreo doesn't mean Cookie. Same with Colgate = toothpaste.

Anne Curtis taking the MRT

I was reading my favorite local celebrity blogs about their Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite Concert in Manila for the past few days and enjoying the pictures from their concert when I kept reading that Anne Curtis took an MRT just to reach Araneta on time.

I was like... really? For real?

I rode the MRT before (but not always because it's just five minutes cab ride from my pad to my office) and I love how, in the Philippines, the trains separate the women from men.

So one morning I was reading Kylie's twitter page when she retweeted Anne Curtis' picture:

@annecurtissmith's caption :

Hulaan nyo Kung nasaan ako para makahabol kay #Kylie? :p http://yfrog.com/h07nytej

She's such a sweetheart! :)

I think this is really cool of her to be practical and quick-thinking.

Nigel Barker for Philippine Tatler

I remember getting a call from my friend Joy about Nigel Barker being in the Philippines and being a guest later in the afternoon at ATC. I was on my way to meet my friend Camille for our long overdue date.

It was also the second time that the Philippine Azkals would be practicing in UPLB ground so I've been getting tweets asking if I'd somehow photographed it.

Nigel Barker vs Azkals? Of course Nigel Barker!

But since my girlfriend bonding ruled above everything else, I did not get to see Nigel Barker talk about shooting for The Philippine Tatler, that's why I am so glad that I got to see this online. For original source, click here

Bookworm's Haven

I've always wanted a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf in my own house someday. I saw this on Yahoo! News (Source: Click Here) and found it very interesting that I just had to take a break from being MIA in cyber world and blog it.

This space will house all my books from my collection of Sweet Valley Twins and Friends to my Chick Literature books.

The innovative 'Shelf-pod' house in Osaka, Japan can hold 10 tons of books.

This part will house all my magazine subscriptions.

A good place for knick-knacks.

Imma make my Kuya Stew build a floor-to-ceiling shelf for me next summer. I also want a ladder, it'll look so cute having a ladder. Very English peg!

Haha!

MIA

Yes.

MIA - like Missing in Action.

I'm MIA in blogging for the past few days due to the ff:

  • My twitter and blog account is under construction.
  • I'm busy with my real life off cyber life.
  • I'm so darn busy with all the papers and readings due.

I've got so much stuff going on off my cyber life so my cyber life is taking a backseat as of these past few weeks, but I still have some blog posts that will be published as scheduled.

So Imma see you guys in a few... weeks?

Baby I can't afford you

I don't have zip fly.
So does that mean you're wearing button-fly jeans.
Yeah, I have like five pairs of them.
So are you telling me you like wearing Levi's?
Because they are comfortable.

How do you help out? Do you lift stuff and all?
No I don't do the manual labor. I help in the paper works.

How about shoes? You mentioned to me about it...
I have always been a designer shoes kind of guy, because it's so comfortable.
I see...

Listen, Baby, while this is all nice and all...
I cannot send you to medical school...
I cannot make you drive an SUV because I don't have one...
I cannot make you travel because I don't have that luxury...
I cannot buy you another DSLR because I don't have the spare money...
I cannot make you sleep in an air conditioned room, because I only have a fan...
I cannot pay your hospitalization, you tend to get sick a lot...
So Imma have to let you go...

You think I am materialistic?
Everything that I have was just given to me.
I did not ask for it. I did not demand it.
The property's not mine, it's not even under my name.
My clothes were just given to me.
Everything that I have was just given.
I am not what you think I am.
Everything that I have doesn't matter as long as I have you.
As long as we're together.

Sorry I do not own a blackberry nor an iPhone
Who cares? My phone is just basic
But if you're with me we will be just living in some small apartment
So be it.
No for real. It's just a two bed room kind and small.
I don't care. I lived in an island for a month.
I do not like to live with the in laws or my parents.
I agree and I like that.
We don't have a car yet, we will have to commute.
I don't care, even if we walk.
I don't have a cook. I can only fry.
That's not a problem. I'll do all the cooking.
I am crazy, bitchy, moody. I tend to not to talk and just go to my room and read.
Read all you want. It's not a problem.
Sometimes I don't feel like talking. I'm not mad or anything I just don't want to talk.
It's alright. As long as you're within my eyesight.
I don't want to go to bed arguing about money.
Couldn't agree with you more.
I don't like people touching my things.
Then I won't touch it.
What if in the future, we won't have a child?
Then we'll adopt.
I want you to think about this really hard. You will be giving up a comfortable lifestyle.
I know that. We both came from hardship. We grew up together. I don't mind.

I have thought about this , I've thought this through
I don't really care about all these things
Because can't you see?
Can't you understand?
None of these things matters to me
As long as I am with you
As long as WE ARE TOGETHER.
That's all that matters to me.

If that's the case...
Then what the hell are you still doing in that place?

*Silence*

There, I thought so too.

Listen, Baby, I don't think I can afford you...

Where to find the best Fudge Brownie in elbi?

Question: Where can you buy a fudge brownie that is so... so... worth it and the guilt?

Answer: Ristretto in Vega Centre!

My friend and food lover/critic describes the experience as:
"every morsel of it melts in my mouth--the fudge permeates my palate, makes me close my eyes and sigh, "this is chocolate--this is happiness". the texture mixes well with bitter coffee--very very tempting"

Apologies for the low res photo, this was taken from my camera phone.

Raves and Tips:

  • When you see the fudge bar empty, ask if they still have it available because sometimes they store it some place to preserve the good condition.
  • It costs Php55, but big serving.
  • Best served when re-heated.
  • Tip: Ristretto has free wifi, you just have to ask. The regulars know that you have to request from the staff because it's not posted in public.
  • Cozy air-conditioned place but no smoking area.

Ristretto is located at the ground floor of Vega Centre, beside UPLB Campus Gate, along Grove, Los Banos, Laguna.

Oldschool Olsens

My sister and I grew up watching the Olsen Twins and everytime there's an oldschool movie on HBO featuring the famous Olsen Twins, we couldn't help but reminisce about the time when we were kids.

I chanced upon these pictures of the Olsen twins and it brought me happy vibes...
