Anti-Idle Mind Movement

I am making a move to preoccupy my mind with reading books to prevent my mind from thinking about... things that I should no longer be thinking about. (so to speak)

So with gradschool stuff coming up ( a breather, actually) I intend to have a Plan B to relax my mind through Chick Literature books.

I'm excited for October because I'll be getting new books from my cousin Stew that I requested, but I am now more ecstatic that Kuya Stew sent me Chick Lit books in advance! ( Thanks Kuya! I'm looking forward to the other batch when you arrive! )

Kuya Stew said that he got me tons of books (with a testimonial from his sister Chimayne as well) and said that I will be reading them for the next five years. I've got five words for you, Kuya:

Super. Looking. Forward. To. It.

Books by Meg Cabot
I was really ecstatic when he got me the UK version of the hard to find Jane Green Books!
The UK version of Jane Green Books ( To have and To Hold and Dune Road)
So happy that I strongly feel that this deserves a post of  its own. I keep on going through the pages one by one with a wide smile on my face.

Thank you so much Kuya! See you in a few months! :)

Much love,
Your excited cousin

Oh Book sales!

Today, while in the middle of the Pahiyas Festival Heat, my sisters got me this Jane Green Book from a Booksale!

Thank you so much sis!
Second Chance by Jane Green for only Php115

I got her new books The Beach House and Dune Road at a book sale which means I am looking for two more, that's Second Chance and Promises to keep. I keep telling myself these past few days that I have this really great feeling that I will get to complete all her books (which I consider one of my prized possessions) and I am looking for one more (Promises to keep) before I can confidently say I have all the Jane Green Books ( because majority of the first ones that I collected is no longer available at the local Bookstores.)

But the catch of all catch is... I must find it in a book sale/ book bargain so that I don't get to pay the regular price. Jane green books usually sell for Php600-1000 plus, depending on the cover. I got The Beach House for only Php99 and Dune Road for only Php50! Super deal!

I discovered Jane Green during a book sale and I got hooked ever since. She was not even recommended by anyone to me so I am super glad that I discovered her all by  my self.  Her novel that I first got was Straight Talking, and from then on I got hooked on Chick Literature.

I'm glad book sales are not limited to reference books alone, I actually bought my Bridget Jones series in really mint condition for only Php95. ( Bridget Jones Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason).

I love, love, love book sales!!! :)

I Heart Book Sales!

I love Book sales! I'm pretty sure book enthusiasts share the same feeling. That's why I knew that kindle wouldn't work for me because nothing compares to the feeling of holding a book.

I was just telling my professor in grad school last Saturday how I don't really like reading ebooks, ( almost all our reference books are sent via email in the form of ebooks, pdf files.... Oh technology!) because I really like the feeling of holding the book. Especially if it's really old, brownish and "crunchy" like the pages could crack any minute!

I get really sad when there's a book sale and I couldn't find anything good to buy.

Weeks before, I found myself in National Bookstore's Book sale only to find out that there isn't anything good to buy. Therefore, I went home empty-handed. :(

But yesterday, I went to the same branch of National Bookstore and found my self buying these:
I got these three for only P199 and in mint condition! Don't you just love book sales?
The highlight of my latest Book Sale experience is getting a hold of Jane Green's "New Generation" book, called The Beach House ( I call it New Generation because I have almost all her previous chick literature novels, which I prefer to call "Her Classics". ) This book usually sells at Fullybooked or Powerbooks for at least a thousand pesos ( not really sure about the price anymore), I only got mine for Php99!

Minty Mint Mint Condition

I also got the 1001 Questions to ask before you get married, and my sister have someone else in mind to give it to. But the really cute find that I got is " Give the Bitch Her Chocolate". I love this item and there's someone in mind I'd like to give this to.

Because it is just so cute and bitchy... I figured out that that cute thing deserves her own entry. :) ( Which I will be writing about, next! )

What are your favorite books?
