I've known Suesh just when they were just starting out. They started in multiply as an online store for affordable make up brush sets and now they have stores. For more information, check our their official site.
Aside from chick lit books, black ink pens, cute notebooks/planners/journals... I've always been in love with Make up and Artistry.
When I was working in the BPO industry, as I was monitoring calls or taking supervisor request calls from highly irate customers, I always ask my agent who sells AVON makeup to hand me her brochure, whether old or new brochure so I can look at the make up over and over again. I consider it eye candy, it calms me down, more often than not, at the end of the call, I'm friends with the customer and I end I end up buying one of the promo lippies. I became one of the favorite AVON customers on the floor.
I was on time when I arrived at Suesh. There were already four other girls who signed up for the workshop and the first question our Teacher, one of Suesh owner, Suzzane Tan, asked us: "Who among you wears make-up everyday?" I think I was to only one who raised a hand.
Yes, I wear it everyday but I've toned it down a lot. One time in college, I wore smokey eyes on a daylight and it looked like I just changed clothes from a night out. In 2009, red lipstick was my office look staple before it was even in. And one time, I got interrupted by a Trainer that I just met, only to ask what shade and what brand of lipstick I was wearing (while I was talking).
Yes, I've toned down since I moved back home. I was asked by my own mother to tone down my lip color and I don't want to be known as the girl who knows nothing but had too much time to put on make up.
So I felt like a kid in Disneyland when we took our seats and I was seated at the section accessible to these:
We were told not to wear make up before class so that we have a clean, bare face. So here's me, sans make up.
We're total of 6 ladies in the class.
I guess you can tell behind the bead curtain that I am excited for the make up workshop.
The early bird of the batch gets to be the model for the day make up:
She did half of her face so she can do the other side.
Each participant gets a set of make up brush and a free make up palette.
I chose earth color combination with hues I can wear everyday.
We were told to do our own make up after the demonstration. Others have started, here I am taking photos for the blog.
My bare face with primer and foundation. We're told to bring our own make up as well so we can work with what we have on top of the free make up. If you don't have one, they will lend you make up that you can use.
This time, I took this shot after putting on eye shadow. I'm almost done.
Look at me hard at work. I have my own mini mirror that I take everywhere with me.
The last one to arrive gets to be the model for the transitioning to night make up. Also known as "Smokey eyes make up".
That's me again, hard at work.
I met this nice lady who plans to become a professional make up artist too. We chatted a lot about tips, the make up industry, etc.
Suzzanne took our "after" shots:
And she printed out photos of our "finished" product.

Okay to be honest, I already know the basics of putting it on. When we were told to ask questions during the workshop, my questions were for the Advanced class. But still I learned some techniques. The reason I wanted to learn Make Up Artistry is because I know what works for me but I want to know what works for others. Since I was a teenager, I've been putting make up on my sister and cousin's faces. One time I did a prom and debut make up and it looked great on pictures. I wish I signed up for the Advanced Classes since I pretty much know the basics because I have Bobbi Brown Make up Manual books at home. But I still got to learn tips like how she sweeps the brush on the lids, how to work on the eye brow and some other things.
I'm planning to take Advanced courses, but probably not anytime soon, because I have my Masteral Degree and a new full-time job to work on. I only have to finish almost 1/4 of my thesis then I'm free to enroll myself in another kind of school.
But it was a nice experience and I went home with full make up on from the class ( that's why I'm wearing that much make up when I ran into you, Anna! In case you're reading this, haha).
By the time I got home, I tested this really good make up remover that I wrote about here.
UPDATE:
I was browsing online make up shops when I finally saw the photo that Suzanne took of us after the workshop.
