New Find: Auntie Pearl's Pizza

One of the hardest challenge my friends and I have when in elbi is deciding where to eat. We pretty much have explored almost all food vendors within the vicinity during the first sem. The one day, just before my Saturday Gradschool class started, I was talking to a classmate of mine who is a local social entrepreneur doing all the social marketing of some of the establishments around elbi.

Then he mentioned "Auntie Pearl's Pizza". Who, according to him comes close to the taste of "Amici" Italian Resto in Makati.

So after class today, My cousin and I checked out where "Auntie Pearl's Pizza" is.  And we found it!

We had 10 inch pizza, 2 pastas, a soda and Iced Tea and we only paid for 300+ only. Not bad! 

(Plus, we were not able to finish up the pastas because we're both really bloated and we had to hit the spa really soon!Lol!)

So, here are the tips for first-timers:

1. The pizza is home made and it takes 20 minutes or so to make it so make sure you have time to kill when you go there.
2. Yes, taste is close to Amici's but the place isn't. So don't hope for cushioned chairs when you go there.
3. You may want to double check with the staff if they really got your order right. They forgot my Carbonara, but good thing there are few customers during that time so they had time to make it asap for me.
4. They serve burgers as well, with really huge patties! I didn't think they were patties at first when the cook took it out to grill it, they look like round, pinkish, baby round pillows from afar.
5. They serve beer!!!

Sorry, was not able to get the business hours, the contact numbers or website. Was just there to see and eat it for myself.

Auntie Pearl's Pizza is located inside Demarses. Coming from UPLB, turn right and see intersection at Ellen's Fried Chicken Building. Then turn left, pass Baan Thai (Authentic thai resto) on the left side of the road, go straight ahead. The place is right after a diner.

In Lieu of Starbucks Peppermint Mocha

I'm craving for Starbucks Peppermint Mocha, especially this Christmas season. My first December season since the year 2000 ( I only go home on weekends, sometimes every other two weekends!)

I wanted to say that I miss bloating myself up with Christmas fraps so I can get the planners that I collected for 3 years (2005-2007), but I don't regret switching to Belle De Jour Planners.

However, I miss the coffee.

And since the nearest Starbucks is in SM Calamba, and I want to get my chocomint fix ( I'm sorry but Boston's Chocomint doesn't come close... I've been ordering the drink for quite a long time now and I am still figuring out where's the mint in their chocomint).

And along came KFC's Peppermint Crushers

Today, after weeks of just glancing at the KFC poster, I finally got my Peppermint fix--NOT BAD!

For Php65.00 it's pretty good...and the best of all, I found the mint in their Peppermint Krushers!

BehindTheScenes: Charge-it-to-experience Photo Shoot

Last Saturday, we had a pictorial around UP Campus. We got our high school friend, Joy to be the model (after super duper lots of prayers. She was not aware how gorgeous really look) And Jim as the photographer. We are currently making Jim's portfolio.

So for our first ever shoot, here's what happened.

The Lemon Square Showdown

My good friend, Faye, from grad school just loves checking out and eating pastries. Since we both have a hard case of sweet tooth, we usually go out and check out the places around elbi where we can get good comfort food!

(FYI: Faye is originally from Manila, then settled down in Baguio, now she's in UPLB taking her PhD. While yours truly, is originally from elbi, but lived in Manila for 10 straight years and just came home six months ago)

When Dal Cielo deli and pastries recently opened, we decided to check their stuff.

Dal Cielo's Lemon Square (already bitten! *wink*) This costs, Php20 each. Pretty steep for elbi standards and for something kinda teeny tiny. 

But good news! We found another Lemon Square that costs half the price! Only Php10!

Meet Micah's Lemon Square:

Micah's cakes and pastries has been around the pastries business since I was in grade school!

Now the difference between the two?  It's almost the same, Dal Cielo's Lemon Square is sweeter (for those with extreme sweet tooth) while Micah's lemon square is pretty good for P10.00!
